Suite à sa performance acclamée par la critique dans le film C.R.A.Z.Y. de Jean-Marc Vallée (Dallas Buyer’s Club, Wild), Marc-André enchaîne les rôles au Canada et en France. En 2009, il gagne le César pour Meilleur Espoir Masculin et devient le premier canadien à remporter cette récompense prestigieuse.
On a pu voir Marc-André dans la comédie sportive, Goon, en compagnie de Jay Baruchel, Sean Wiliam Scott et Liev Shreiber. Il reprendra d’ailleurs ce rôle dans une suite qui paraîtra en 2016. Parmi ses autres performances notables, on note un rôle principal dans le film québécois L’Affaire Dumont, pour lequel Marc-André obtient une nomination aux Prix Écrans Canadiens pour Meilleur Acteur dans un rôle principal, le rôle titre dans le film français L’Homme qui rit, avec Gérard Depardieu et Emmanuelle Seigner, qui fût le film de clôture au Festival du Film de Venise. Il apparaît également dans le film québécois Vic et Flo ont vu un ours, réalisé par Denis Côté et lauréat du « Silver Bear Prize » au Festival du Film de Berlin. Son plus récent film, Tu dors Nicole, a été présenté en première au Festival de Cannes ainsi qu’au Festival International du Film de Toronto et la performance de Marc-André lui a valu un autre Prix Écran Canadien pour Meilleur Acteur de soutien.
Il tient présentement le rôle principal d’une série télévisée britannique intitulée Spotless pour Canal Plus, laquelle a aussi eu sa première nord-américaine sur le Esquire Network en automne dernier. Marc-André incarnera prochainement le personnage principal de la série québécoise L’Imposteur.
After his breakthrough performance in Jean-Marc Vallée’s (Dallas Buyer’s Club, Wild) French Canadian film C.R.A.Z.Y., Marc-André has been working continuously in Canada and France. In 2009, he won the César Award (France’s Oscar) for Best Male Newcomer thus becoming the first Canadian actor to ever win that prestigious award.
Marc-André starred in the hockey comedy, Goon, opposite Jay Baruchel, Seann William Scott and Liev Schreiber and will reprise his role in the upcoming sequel which will be released in 2016. Other film credits include the lead role in the French-Canadian film, L’Affaire Dumont, in which his performance garnered him a Canadian Screen Awards nomination (Canada’s Oscars) for Best Lead Actor, the title role in the French film, L’Homme qui rit (The man who laughs), opposite Gérard Depardieu and Emmanuelle Seigner which was the closing film at the 2012 Venice Film Festival. He also starred in the French Canadian indie Vic and Flo saw a bear , directed by Denis Côté which won the ‘Silver Bear Prize’ at the Berlin Film Festival. His most recent film, You’re sleeping, Nicole, premiered both in Cannes and TIFF in 2014 and his performance garnered him another Canadian Screen Award for Best Supporting Actor.
He is currently starring in the lead role of the British television series Spotless for Canal Plus, which made its US premiere on the Esquire Network last fall. He also will play the lead in the upcoming French-Canadian series L’Imposteur.
